CALI (Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction) is a nonprofit consortium of law schools that provides free online legal education resources — interactive lessons, practice exercises, and study tools — to law students at member institutions. As one of the oldest legal education technology organizations, CALI has been at the forefront of technology-enhanced legal education for decades.
CALI's lesson library covers hundreds of subjects across the law school curriculum, providing interactive exercises that help students master legal concepts through practice and immediate feedback. These supplemental resources help law students reinforce classroom learning and prepare for exams in a self-paced digital environment.
CALI's AI initiatives include developing AI tools specifically for legal education — helping law students learn to work effectively with AI tools that will be central to their legal practice. This forward-looking curriculum development positions CALI as an important resource for the next generation of AI-equipped lawyers.
Key capabilities include interactive legal lessons, practice exercises, bar preparation resources, legal research training, and AI literacy curriculum for law students. CALI serves students at 200+ member law schools across the US.
